How to Tell If Your Ignition Requires Service

Ignition troubles can put you in quite a predicament. Without being able to reliably start your car, you could end up being late to work or unable to show up. We here at Lithia Nissan of Medford have compiled a list of some signs to watch out for if your ignition possibly requires service.
  • When you place your key in the ignition and turn it, you may notice a few different sounds coming from the ignition or the engine. This can include a whining sound, a whirring sound or even a very strong grinding sound. The grinding would sound similar to the sound your engine would make if you accidentally double started it.
  • When you try to start your vehicle, absolutely nothing happens. This would indicate a malfunctioning solenoid that needs attention from a service technician.
  • Smoke coming from an engine that isn't starting properly is a common sign of an ignition problem.
